Lung interstitial macrophages (LYVE1highMHCIIlow), Lung (MT-0224-HM15)

Overview

Description
Lung interstitial macrophages, characterized by the expression of LYVE1high and MHCIIlow markers, represent a distinct subset of macrophages residing within the lung interstitium, the space between the alveolar epithelium and the pulmonary capillaries. Unlike alveolar macrophages, which predominantly inhabit the alveolar spaces, lung interstitial macrophages are strategically positioned within the lung parenchyma.

Numerous types of experimental manipulations, including morphological, gene expression, and physiological studies.

FAQs Customer Reviews Related Products

Can these cells be incorporated into 3D lung tissue or organotypic culture models?

Absolutely. The macrophages adhere well and maintain viability within 3D matrices and organotypic constructs. Their tissue-associated phenotype supports relevant interactions with stromal and vascular cells, enabling more realistic modeling of lung microenvironments. We can share general guidance on cell densities, matrix options, and co-culture strategies to help you integrate them effectively into your existing 3D systems.

What measures do you take to maintain phenotype stability during cryopreservation and recovery?

Our cryopreservation protocol is carefully optimized for this delicate subset, including controlled cooling rates and protective formulations that preserve membrane integrity and signaling competence. Before product release, we test a sample vial using a standard thawing procedure to evaluate viability, Lyve1 and MHCII expression, and basic functional responses.

Do you offer scientific support if we need to adapt these macrophages to a new or complex assay system?

Yes. Our technical and scientific support team can assist with assay design, culture optimization, co-culture strategies, and troubleshooting. While we cannot fully customize every protocol, we are happy to share best practices gathered from internal validation and other users' experiences.

  • We used the macrophages for a vascular remodeling project, and they performed extremely well
The phenotype was clearly confirmed by flow cytometry, and the cells responded robustly to our pro-resolving mediators. Their interactions with lung endothelial cells were consistent and provided valuable insight into repair-related mechanisms.
  • The detailed QC sheet and responsive technical support gave us extra confidence when interpreting our results
In our fibrosis research, these macrophages helped us dissect how different drug candidates influence resolution versus progression. The cells integrated nicely into our 3D lung matrix model, retained excellent viability, and displayed cytokine patterns that aligned with published data.
  • These lung macrophages have become a key component of our vascular homeostasis platform
They allowed us to explore subtle aspects of endothelial interaction that were difficult to capture with standard cell lines. The combination of strong characterization, reliable logistics, and helpful scientific input from the provider made this a very positive experience overall.
