Human PB CD14+ Monocytes (Female), 5 x 10^7 cells (MTS-1022-JF58)

Overview

Description
Monocytes are immune cells that form an important bridge between the innate and adaptive immune response. These cells exist in various phenotypes based on cell surface marker expression and participate in the pathobiology of many systemic diseases. CD14 is known as monocyte differentiation antigen on the surface of myeloid lineage. This protein has a major role in immune recognition and reactivation. CD14+ monocytes are perhaps the most readily available precursors used to generate macrophages and dendritic cells, provide an ideal model for the study of macrophage biology and mechanisms.
These human CD14+ monocytes are purified from peripheral blood, with the highest viability and plating efficiency. Peripheral blood is collected from donors who have screend for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV-1, HIV-2, WNV, and CMV.
Isolated cells are characterized flow cytometry to ensure the enrichment of CD14+ cells.
5 x 10^7 cells per vial.
Cells are negative for bacteria, yeast, fungi, and mycoplasma.
Repeated freezing and thawing of cells is not recommended.

FAQs Customer Reviews Related Products

Why would I select a "female donor" monocyte lot instead of an age-only lot?

Sex can influence innate immune responsiveness and baseline inflammatory patterns. If your study includes sex-stratified analyses, hormone-linked variables, or you want to keep donor sex consistent across a dataset, a female-designated lot helps reduce a major source of biological variability and makes cross-condition comparisons cleaner.

What is the vial size, and is it suitable for multi-readout studies?

The product is supplied at 5×10^7 cells per vial, which is well suited for parallel workflows-e.g., phenotyping by flow plus functional stimulation or differentiation-based experiments-without needing to mix lots.

What are your recommended storage requirements immediately upon arrival?

Shipments arrive on dry ice and should be transferred directly to liquid nitrogen storage (-150°C to -190°C). Proper storage is essential for preserving viability and plating efficiency; the handling guidance notes viability cannot be guaranteed if the recommended procedure is not followed.

  • Strong choice for RUO studies that need donor-specific sourcing with reliable performance
The cells differentiated cleanly and remained viable through the co-culture window. Readouts were interpretable and less noisy than our previous mixed PBMC approach. The larger format reduced the need for multiple orders and helped us keep experimental conditions consistent across batches. The product documentation was easy to archive, and communication about shipping timelines was transparent.
  • The supplier support was responsive and professional, making the entire process efficient
Our lab values reproducibility above all, especially for screening-scale macrophage assays. This product performed consistently across plates and days, which reduced repeat runs. The cells handled well in routine culture and responded to polarization cues as expected. We also appreciated practical handling notes that matched real-world lab constraints.
  • The cells arrived well preserved, recovered quickly, and differentiated uniformly
Our functional assays showed robust responses with reduced variability, and our phenotyping panels were cleaner than with mixed sources. Operationally, the 5×10^7 quantity was ideal for running multiple conditions in parallel.
