Human PB Pan Monocytes (Age: 44), Negative selected, 5 x 10^7 cells (MTS-1022-JF83)

Overview

Description
Monocytes are immune cells that form an important bridge between the innate and adaptive immune response. These cells exist in various phenotypes based on cell surface marker expression and participate in the pathobiology of many systemic diseases. Monocytes provide an ideal model for the study of macrophage biology and mechanisms.
These pan monocytes are purified from peripheral blood by removing other cell types using immunomagnetic negative selection, with the highest viability and plating efficiency. Peripheral blood is collected from donors who have screend for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV-1, HIV-2, WNV, and CMV.
Isolated cells are characterized flow cytometry to ensure the enrichment of CD14+ cells.
5 x 10^7 cells per vial.
Cells are negative for bacteria, yeast, fungi, and mycoplasma.
Repeated freezing and thawing of cells is not recommended.

FAQs Customer Reviews Related Products

I need multiple vials for a screening campaign. Can you support lot consistency and reservation?

Yes. Tell us your required total cell number, plate format, timeline, and whether you need single-donor consistency or are open to multi-donor lots. We can help structure procurement (lot reservation, staged shipments, or split deliveries) so your assay development and screening runs remain comparable across timepoints.

What QC do you provide to confirm I'm getting enriched monocytes and not a mixed PBMC population?

Each lot is characterized by flow cytometry to verify enrichment of CD14+ cells, and the product is released only after standard contamination checks (mycoplasma, bacteria, fungi/yeast). If your study requires deeper resolution (classical vs. non-classical subsets; CD16, HLA-DR, CCR2, etc.), we can align a custom QC panel or provide recommendations for post-thaw verification so your team can document lot suitability in your internal QA package.

What are best practices to protect viability and "plating efficiency" after thaw?

These cells are supplied cryopreserved and shipped on dry ice; once received, move vials directly to liquid nitrogen storage to maintain viability. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. For thawing, use a rapid thaw, dilute promptly into pre-warmed medium, and remove DMSO efficiently (gentle centrifugation and resuspension). If you're differentiating into macrophages, we can share handling tips to stabilize attachment and reduce early apoptosis-especially important when you need consistent day-0 baseline across plates.

  • This batch showed clean baseline behavior and consistent differentiation outcomes
We ran phagocytosis assays and observed stable performance without unexpected donor-to-donor artifacts beyond normal biological variation. The included information sheet was helpful for internal QC documentation.
  • We used these pan monocytes as a starting material for DC-like differentiation
The resulting cells displayed strong upregulation in activation markers upon stimulation and maintained good viability throughout extended culture. Shipping was on time, temperature control was solid, and we had no concerns about sample integrity.
  • This product performed well for downstream RNA work
The cells tolerated standard freezing medium conditions and did not show unusual clumping post-thaw. We also appreciated the customer support responsiveness; we asked about recommended seeding density and differentiation timing, and the guidance was detailed rather than generic.
