Description
Osteomacs are a specialized subset of macrophages found within the bone microenvironment. They play crucial roles in bone homeostasis, remodeling, and repair. Osteomacs are characterized by their unique localization at sites of bone remodeling, such as the bone-remodeling units (BRUs) and the bone marrow. These cells are involved in various functions, including the regulation of osteoblast and osteoclast activity, phagocytosis of cellular debris during bone resorption, and secretion of factors that influence bone cell function.
Applications
Numerous types of experimental manipulations, including morphological, gene expression, and physiological studies.
