Description

This product is isolated from human peripheral blood. Donors are screened for hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV-1 and HIV-2. 2 x 10^6 cells are delivered frozen. This product is negative in the tests of mycoplasma, bacteria, fungi and yeast. The expression of CD11b is positive by flow cytometry. It is guaranteed to further culture in the conditions provided by Creative Biolabs. Repeated freezing and thawing of cells is not recommended.

Upon receiving, transfer this product directly from dry ice to liquid nitrogen(-150°C~-190°C) and store it in a liquid nitrogen tank.
We cannot guarantee the cell viability if the cells are not treated appropriately according to handling procedure.

Are these cells shipped fresh or frozen?

This product is delivered frozen. The cells (2 x 10^6 per vial) are cryopreserved in a specialized medium to ensure high viability upon proper thawing.

Can I maintain these cells in culture after thawing?

Yes, the cells are guaranteed to be viable for further culture using the recommended medium and protocol provided. However, please note that primary cells, especially polarized macrophages, have a limited lifespan in vitro and may begin to lose their distinct phenotype over extended culture periods.

Are these cells suitable for phagocytosis assays?

Absolutely. M2 macrophages are highly phagocytic, particularly for apoptotic cells (efferocytosis). These cells are an excellent model for studying phagocytosis, tissue remodeling, and immune resolution.

We use them for efferocytosis assays, and they are incredibly efficient. The 2 million cell count is perfect for plating a 24-well plate. No issues with contamination.
Excellent cells from a young donor
I was skeptical about using pre-polarized frozen cells, but these maintained their phenotype very well. The morphology was spot-on, and they were easy to work with. Will be our new standard for M2 cells.
