C57BL/6J Mouse Macrophages, Bone Marrow (MTS-0922-JF41)

Overview

Description
This product is isolated from the bone marrow of pathogen-free laboratory C57BL/6J mice after immortalization with a recombinant retrovirus, which contains the v-raf and myc oncogenes. This product is negative in the tests of mycoplasma, bacteria, fungi and yeast. The expression of CD11b is positive by flow cytometry. It is guaranteed to further culture in the conditions provided by Creative Biolabs. Repeated freezing and thawing of cells is not recommended.
Applications

FAQs Customer Reviews Related Products

Are these cells difficult to culture?

Not at all. They are very robust. We provide a recommended medium and handling protocol in the datasheet, and we guarantee the cells will culture well if these instructions are followed.

What are the storage instructions?

The vial is shipped frozen on dry ice. To ensure the highest cell viability for your experiments, you must store it in liquid nitrogen (in the vapor or liquid phase) at or below -150°C upon arrival.

What is the difference between this C57BL/6J line and the C57BL/6 line (JF40)?

The C57BL/6J substrain is the most commonly used inbred mouse strain. However, it has known genetic differences from other substrains (like C57BL/6N), such as a deletion in the Nnt gene. If your research or knockout model is specifically on the 'J' background, using these C57BL/6J macrophages is crucial for the most accurate control.

  • The genetic background matters!
Our entire knockout colony is on the C57BL/6J background, so we must use C57BL/6J controls. These immortalized macrophages were a perfect find. They behave as expected and are a precise control for our work.
  • It's nice to have the C57BL/6J substrain specified and available
We use these for all our general macrophage experiments. The fact that they are the 'J' substrain is the standard for our field.
  • They respond well to M1 and M2 polarization stimuli
Arrived quickly and well-frozen. Thawed with high viability. These are a great alternative to primary BMDMs.
