These cells are a highly specific tool for immunologists studying signaling pathways. If you hypothesize that a particular receptor on your macrophage signals via LAB, these knockout cells are the definitive control. They are especially useful for studying IgE-mediated macrophage activation or other pathways where adaptor proteins are key.
This product (JF49) is a single knockout of LAB (Lat2). The other product (JF50) is a double knockout of both LAB (Lat2) and the closely related adaptor protein LAT (Lat1), which is the "Linker for Activation of T cells." You would choose this single KO (JF49) if you specifically want to isolate the function of LAB while leaving the LAT-dependent pathways intact.
These are bone marrow-derived macrophages from C57BL/6 LAB KO mice, which have been immortalized with v-raf and myc oncogenes to create a stable cell line.
