FAQs Customer Reviews Related Products

Are these M0, M1, or M2 macrophages?

As these are resident lung macrophages isolated from a naïve, healthy mouse, they can be considered a resting/M0-like population. They are an ideal starting point for in vitro polarization or stimulation assays.

Can these be used for in vitro infection models?

Absolutely. These primary lung macrophages are an excellent, physiologically relevant model for studying host-pathogen interactions with respiratory viruses (like Influenza or SARS-CoV-2) or bacteria (like M. tuberculosis or S. pneumoniae).

What is the recommended medium for culturing these?

A detailed protocol with our recommended culture medium (typically a DMEM or RPMI-based medium with 10% FBS and specific growth factors like M-CSF) is included with your purchase and on the product datasheet.

  • The 500k count is perfect for seeding a 24-well plate.
We match these to all our B6 knockout mouse studies. The quality is always top-notch, high viability, and no contamination. Saves us so much prep time.
  • So much better than using a cell line like RAW 264.7.
They are primary, so they require careful handling, but the protocol from Creative Biolabs is clear and easy to follow. They performed well in our LPS stimulation assay.
  • The cell count was a little low for our needs
Viability was good. The cell count was a little low for our needs (had to buy 3 vials), but the purity was high. We were able to get clean flow cytometry data from them.
