B6/129 Mouse Macrophages, Bone Marrow (MTS-0922-JF36)

Overview

Description
This product is isolated from the bone marrow of pathogen-free laboratory B6/129 mice after immortalization with a recombinant retrovirus, which contains the v-raf and myc oncogenes. This product is negative in the tests of mycoplasma, bacteria, fungi and yeast. The expression of CD11b is positive by flow cytometry. It is guaranteed to further culture in the conditions provided by Creative Biolabs. Repeated freezing and thawing of cells is not recommended.

FAQs Customer Reviews Related Products

What is the advantage of using an immortalized line?

Immortalized cells provide a consistent, renewable resource for your experiments. This eliminates the lot-to-lot variability associated with primary cells and removes the need for repeated animal harvesting, making your long-term studies more reproducible.

What is the background strain B6/129 useful for?

The B6/129 mixed background is very common in transgenic and knockout mouse models. These cells are an excellent control line to use alongside macrophages derived from B6/129-background knockout mice.

  • A fantastic immortalized line
We were tired of the variability in our primary BMDMs. These cells grow robustly and respond consistently to LPS stimulation. A real workhorse for our lab.
  • The immortalization is very effective
We needed a control line for our B6/129-background KO model, and these were perfect. They behave very similarly to primary BMDMs in our functional assays but are so much easier to handle.
  • We've already re-ordered twice
The CD11b expression was high. My only note is to make sure you use their recommended medium; they didn't do as well in our standard lab-made macrophage medium.
