Overview

Description

This product is isolated from the bone marrow of pathogen-free laboratory C57BL/6 mice after immortalization with a recombinant retrovirus, which contains the v-raf and myc oncogenes. This product is negative in the tests of mycoplasma, bacteria, fungi and yeast. The expression of CD11b is positive by flow cytometry. It is guaranteed to further culture in the conditions provided by Creative Biolabs. Repeated freezing and thawing of cells is not recommended.

Upon receiving, transfer this product directly from dry ice to liquid nitrogen(-150°C~-190°C) and store it in a liquid nitrogen tank.
We cannot guarantee the cell viability if the cells are not treated appropriately according to handling procedure.

Why should I use this immortalized line instead of making my own primary BMDMs?

Our immortalized line saves you significant time, resources, and animal use. It eliminates the 7-10 day differentiation period for primary BMDMs and provides a homogenous cell population that is free from the variability seen between primary preparations.

What is the most common application for these cells?

These are our "workhorse" macrophage line. They are ideal for nearly any in vitro macrophage study, including polarization (M1/M2), phagocytosis assays, cytokine profiling (ELISA, qPCR), and as a standard wild-type control for knockout lines on a C57BL/6 background.

Are the cells tested for contamination?

Yes. We guarantee all our cell lots are sterile and negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, fungi, and yeast.

The standard macrophage line in our lab
We've bought it over 10 times. They are incredibly easy to culture, respond perfectly to LPS and IFN-gamma, and give clean, reproducible results every time.
A very reliable and convenient cell line
We switched from RAW 264.7 cells to these, and it was the best decision. These C57BL/6 immortalized cells are much more representative of primary BMDMs in our hands. Highly recommended.
They perform well in our phagocytosis assays
We use these as the wild-type control for the BAX-KO and DAP12-KO lines from Creative Biolabs. They are the perfect matched set. The consistency across all three lines is superb.
