Resident macrophages represent the steady-state, "housekeeping" phenotype (often more M2-like with high F4/80 expression). Elicited macrophages are in an activated, inflammatory state. You should choose this resident population if you want to study the naïve M0 state or polarize them to M1 or M2 yourself.
C57BL/6 (B6) is the most common mouse background for genetic knockout models. These macrophages are perfect for in vitro experiments that need to match your in vivo B6-background studies, particularly for Th1-driven inflammation, infection, or cancer models.
This vial provides a high cell count of 6 x 10^6 (6 million) viable cells, which is excellent for multiple experiments or large-format plates (e.g., 6-well plates).
