FAQs Customer Reviews Related Products

What is the functional difference between resident and elicited macrophages?

Resident macrophages represent the steady-state, "housekeeping" phenotype (often more M2-like with high F4/80 expression). Elicited macrophages are in an activated, inflammatory state. You should choose this resident population if you want to study the naïve M0 state or polarize them to M1 or M2 yourself.

Why choose the C57BL/6 strain?

C57BL/6 (B6) is the most common mouse background for genetic knockout models. These macrophages are perfect for in vitro experiments that need to match your in vivo B6-background studies, particularly for Th1-driven inflammation, infection, or cancer models.

What cell count is in this vial?

This vial provides a high cell count of 6 x 10^6 (6 million) viable cells, which is excellent for multiple experiments or large-format plates (e.g., 6-well plates).

  • High viability and a great cell count
These are our lab's standard for all in vitro validation work that matches our B6 mouse models. The 6M cell count is a fantastic value. They are always clean and respond beautifully to LPS/IFN-g.
  • Accurate cell count, and clean. The B6 background was essential. Five stars.
Used these for a co-culture assay with T-cells, and they performed flawlessly. It's so much easier than harvesting them ourselves, and the lot-to-lot consistency is much better. Highly recommend.
