Description

This product is isolated from the peritoneal cavity of pathogen-free laboratory BALB/c mouse. 6 x 10^6 cells are delivered frozen. This product is negative in the tests of mycoplasma, bacteria, fungi and yeast. The expression of CD11b is positive by flow cytometry. It is guaranteed to further culture in the conditions provided by Creative Biolabs. Repeated freezing and thawing of cells is not recommended.

Handling Notes

Upon receiving, transfer this product directly from dry ice to liquid nitrogen(-150°C~-190°C) and store it in a liquid nitrogen tank.
We cannot guarantee the cell viability if the cells are not treated appropriately according to handling procedure.

What cell count is provided?

This vial contains a large quantity of 6 x 10^6 (6 million) viable thioglycollate-elicited macrophages.

Are these cells considered M1 or M2?

Thioglycollate-elicited macrophages are generally considered an activated, inflammatory (M1-like) population, though they are distinct from IFN-g polarized M1s. They are ideal for studies needing a large number of "angry" macrophages right out of the vial for phagocytosis or activation assays.

How are these cells shipped and stored?

They are shipped frozen on dry ice in our cryoprotectant medium. For long-term storage and to maintain viability, they must be stored in liquid nitrogen (-150°C to -190°C) immediately upon arrival.

The thioglycollate-elicited ones are so active and easy to work with. The BALB/c background was perfect for our Leishmania infection model. Great product.
The cells from Creative Biolabs were consistent and reliable.
Just be aware they are not naïve. They are already inflammatory. This was what we wanted for our inflammasome study, so they were perfect.
