Mouse Macrophages, Bone Marrow (MTS-0922-JF58)

Overview

Description
This product is a tumor necrosis factor receptor control macrophage cell line, isolated from the bone marrow of pathogen-free laboratory mice after immortalization with a recombinant retrovirus, which contains the v-raf and myc oncogenes. This product is negative in the tests of mycoplasma, bacteria, fungi and yeast. The expression of CD11b is positive by flow cytometry. It is guaranteed to further culture in the conditions provided by Creative Biolabs. Repeated freezing and thawing of cells is not recommended.

FAQs Customer Reviews Related Products

Are these bone marrow-derived macrophages freshly isolated, and what steps ensure preservation of their primary phenotype?

These macrophages are freshly isolated and immediately cryopreserved in controlled-rate freezing conditions to preserve viability and primary characteristics. We use optimized differentiation protocols with M-CSF to ensure consistent macrophage enrichment from bone marrow precursors. Post-thaw, the cells re-establish typical macrophage morphology and retain strong phagocytic and cytokine responses.

Do these wild-type macrophages serve as suitable controls for comparing gene knockout macrophage models?

Yes, wild-type macrophages are essential for interpreting knockout model data. They provide baseline values for cytokine production, activation markers, M1/M2 polarization responses, and pathogen clearance. Using these cells alongside STAT or PKR knockout models allows researchers to isolate the specific contributions of individual genes in immune signaling pathways.

Are these macrophages suitable for phagocytosis, cytokine stimulation, and pathogen interaction assays?

Absolutely. These wild-type macrophages respond strongly to canonical activators, making them ideal for phagocytosis-based assays, inflammatory cytokine profiling, infection models, and compound screening. They are also compatible with standard imaging, ELISA, flow cytometry, and transcriptomic workflows.

  • Reliable source of primary macrophages
These cells saved us the trouble of isolating bone marrow ourselves. The QC report was detailed, and the lot-to-lot consistency was impressive. Highly recommended for labs with limited animal resources.
  • Baseline control for knockout studies
We purchased these WT macrophages to compare with PKR KO and STAT KO lines. The baseline responses were consistent, and the cells handled activation stimuli very well. This made downstream analysis far easier.
  • The cells thawed quickly, attached well to plastic, and maintained excellent viability
Our cytokine stimulation assays showed expected robust responses. Their cytokine responses were clear and reproducible, and the morphology remained stable throughout the experiment.
