FAQs Customer Reviews Related Products

How do these BALB/c BMDMs differ from your C57BL/6 (B6) BMDMs?

While both are M0 macrophages, their genetic background is the key difference. BALB/c macrophages are known to polarize more readily to an M2 (anti-inflammatory) phenotype and produce a different cytokine profile upon stimulation compared to B6 macrophages, which are Th1-biased.

What is the main research application for BALB/c strain BMDMs?

The BALB/c mouse strain is known for its strong Th2-biased immune response. Therefore, these BALB/c-derived BMDMs are the ideal choice for in vitro studies related to asthma, allergic inflammation, parasitic infections, and other Th2-mediated diseases.

What is the cell count and phenotype?

This vial contains 6 x 10^6 (6 million) cells. They are differentiated into naïve (M0) macrophages from bone marrow precursors, making them a perfect blank slate for your polarization experiments.

  • Saved us the time and effort of harvesting from our own BALB/c colony
They polarize to M2 with IL-4 stimulation beautifully and give us very clean, reproducible data. High viability.
  • Good, clean BMDMs
We bought both these BALB/c and the C57BL/6 BMDMs to compare their response to our compound. The strain difference was clear! Great quality cells, and the 6M count is generous.
  • AUsed these for a Leishmania infection assay
Solid product. Adhered well and looked healthy. The protocol was straightforward. A bit pricey, but the convenience and quality are worth it.
