Introduction
Phosphatidylserine (PS) is a phospholipid located in the inner layer of the plasma membrane of eukaryotic cells. Once the cell dies, the PS is moved to the outer layer of the membrane and is exposed. Endothelial cells, MDSCs, macrophages, DCs, B, T, and NK cells express PS receptors(PSR). The PS/PSR interaction triggers efferocytosis and activates inhibitory pathways that prevent the development of inflammation in response to apoptosis.
