Background
This gene encodes a lymphokine involved in cell-mediated immunity, immunoregulation, and inflammation. It plays a role in the regulation of macrophage function in host defense through the suppression of anti-inflammatory effects of glucocorticoids. This lymphokine and the JAB1 protein form a complex in the cytosol near the peripheral plasma membrane, which may indicate an additional role in integrin signaling pathways.

FAQs Customer Reviews Related Products

What sample types can I run with this kit, and can it handle both macrophage supernatants and tissues in the same study?

This kit supports multiple matrices, including cell culture supernatant, cell lysate, plasma, serum, and tissue homogenate, making it suitable for integrated studies that compare secreted and tissue-associated MIF. To run mixed matrices in one project, we recommend validating each matrix with a dilution linearity check, then using matrix-matched controls so comparisons are meaningful. If your tissue homogenates are complex, clarify them thoroughly and pilot different dilutions to reduce background while keeping recovery acceptable.

How long does the assay take and what are key handling details to avoid mistakes during a busy experimental day?

The kit is designed for an approximately 3-hour assay and uses a pre-coated 96-test plate with a 100 μL sample volume per well. To avoid common mistakes, keep timing consistent across standards and samples, use fresh wash buffer, and avoid letting wells dry during steps. Plan your plate map in advance and include duplicates for standards and critical samples. Consistent washing and careful pipetting are the biggest drivers of reliable signal-to-noise.

What storage and stability should I expect, and how do I manage partial-kit usage across multiple weeks?

The kit lists storage at 4°C and -20°C (depending on component; follow the protocol) and an expiry of 6 months. For partial usage, aliquot reagents that are prone to repeated freeze-thaw, label opening dates, and store components exactly as instructed in the protocol. We also recommend planning batch runs so standards and controls remain consistent across plates. If you share your intended schedule, we'll suggest a storage and aliquoting plan that reduces waste and maintains performance.

  • Fast 3-hour ELISA with flexible sample compatibility for MIF for routine lab and screening use
We ran this kit for MIF in both macrophage-conditioned media and tissue homogenates, and it was convenient that the datasheet explicitly lists several sample types. The workflow fit into a half-day schedule and the pre-coated plate made setup easy. After a short dilution pilot for tissue samples, background was manageable and trends were reproducible across replicates. We also appreciated the clear storage guidance and expiry information for planning multi-week projects.
  • Clear quantitative results and stable colorimetric readout on our plate reader
The colorimetric endpoint was stable and easy to capture, and the assay time was predictable, which helped with scheduling. We used serum and cell lysates and saw consistent differences that matched our biological expectations. The kit documentation was clear about plate format, sample volume, and assay time, which reduced mistakes. Overall, it's a reliable MIF quantification kit for routine macrophage inflammation studies where reproducibility is essential.
  • Good support for planning storage and multi-run consistency across plates
Our project required running multiple plates over several weeks, so we cared about stability and reproducibility. The kit's stated storage conditions and six-month expiry made planning easy, and we followed an aliquoting strategy to reduce freeze-thaw cycles. The assay performed consistently when we kept timing and washing controlled. We also liked that the kit is explicitly quantitative and sandwich-based, which supported standard curve reporting for our internal data package.
