Background
This gene is one of several cytokine genes clustered on the q-arm of chromosome 17. Chemokines are a superfamily of secreted proteins involved in immunoregulatory and inflammatory processes. The superfamily is divided into four subfamilies based on the arrangement of N-terminal cysteine residues of the mature peptide. This chemokine is a member of the CC subfamily which is characterized by two adjacent cysteine residues. This cytokine displays chemotactic activity for monocytes and basophils but not for neutrophils or eosinophils. It has been implicated in the pathogenesis of diseases characterized by monocytic infiltrates, like psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis and atherosclerosis. It binds to chemokine receptors CCR2 and CCR4.

FAQs Customer Reviews Related Products

Is this a sandwich ELISA or a competition ELISA, and why does that matter for CCL2?

This product is a sandwich ELISA kit intended for quantitative measurement of CCL2 with a colorimetric readout. Sandwich formats are widely used for soluble proteins like chemokines because they often provide strong specificity by capturing the target with one antibody and detecting with another. For best performance, follow recommended sample handling, run duplicates, and validate dilution linearity in your matrix.

What sample types does this kit typically support in macrophage studies?

In macrophage workflows, users most often measure CCL2 in cell culture supernatants, but serum/plasma or tissue homogenates can be relevant in vivo. The key is consistent sample processing: remove particulates, avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and pilot a dilution series. A small optimization step up front usually prevents matrix-driven artifacts later and improves confidence in between-group comparisons.

How do I handle samples that are outside the standard curve range?

If samples read above the curve, dilute them in the recommended diluent and re-run so the signal falls within range; record the dilution factor for final reporting. If samples are below the curve, concentrate cautiously (if compatible with your matrix) or increase sample input where the protocol allows. For longitudinal macrophage experiments, it's often better to choose a dilution that keeps most samples mid-curve, then standardize that dilution across the study.

  • Reliable colorimetric sandwich ELISA for macrophage CCL2 tracking
We used this kit to quantify CCL2 from macrophage supernatants across multiple stimuli. The assay behaved like a solid sandwich ELISA-clear signal separation and data that matched our expectations. After confirming dilution linearity, we ran the full study without major issues. The colorimetric readout fit our plate reader workflow and made it easy for multiple team members to run consistently.
  • Straightforward protocol and good day-to-day reproducibility in our lab
Our lab needed a dependable CCL2 assay for routine screening. This kit performed well once we standardized sample collection timing and avoided freeze-thaw cycles. The biggest benefit was repeatability across days: we included an internal control sample and saw consistent values. It's a practical choice if you're building a macrophage cytokine panel and want a familiar colorimetric ELISA workflow.
  • Clear readout with minimal troubleshooting after a quick pilot run
We ran a short pilot to find the best dilution for our macrophage media, then everything was smooth. The assay separated control and stimulated groups clearly, and duplicates were tight. The kit integrated well into our existing pipeline and reduced the back-and-forth we previously experienced with other assays. Overall, it's a strong option for colorimetric CCL2 quantification.
