Human PB Monocytes (Age: 48), Negative selected, 1 x 10^7 cells (MTS-1022-JF76)

Overview

Description
Monocytes are immune cells that form an important bridge between the innate and adaptive immune response. These cells exist in various phenotypes based on cell surface marker expression and participate in the pathobiology of many systemic diseases. CD14 is known as monocyte differentiation antigen on the surface of myeloid lineage. This protein has a major role in immune recognition and reactivation. CD14+ monocytes are perhaps the most readily available precursors used to generate macrophages and dendritic cells, provide an ideal model for the study of macrophage biology and mechanisms.
These human CD14+ monocytes are purified from peripheral blood by removing other cell types using immunomagnetic negative selection.
Isolated cells are characterized flow cytometry to ensure the enrichment of CD14+ cells.

FAQs Customer Reviews Related Products

What is the key advantage of using an age-defined donor (Age: 48) for PB monocyte studies?

Age can influence baseline immune tone and monocyte functional responsiveness. Using an age-defined donor strengthens experimental control-particularly in comparative studies (e.g., age-matched controls, immune aging hypotheses, or consistency across multi-batch campaigns).

How are these monocytes isolated, and why does that matter?

They are purified by immunomagnetic negative selection (removal of other cell types). This is often preferred when you want enriched monocytes without direct target capture that could bias surface-marker behavior before stimulation.

What is the vial content and format-can I use it for standardized plate layouts?

The listing specifies 1×10^7 cells per vial, and the product is cryopreserved, which is suitable for standardized seeding plans across assay plates and repeatable differentiation setups.

  • This age-defined monocyte lot supported our internal reference panel for innate immune profiling
The negative-selection approach was beneficial for maintaining low baseline activation, which improved the interpretability of our early time-point readouts. Recovery and handling were consistent, with minimal clumping and good seeding behavior. Differentiated macrophages displayed stable marker expression and strong response to our stimulation conditions.
  • We've had challenges in the past with monocyte lots that arrive stressed or partially activated
The cells were suitable for both short-term stimulation assays and longer differentiation protocols. Documentation was easy to integrate into our electronic lab notebook system, and shipment tracking updates were timely.
  • Our team needed a defined donor age monocyte product to support a comparative dataset across different immune models
We appreciated that the cells behaved calmly before stimulation-minimal spontaneous cytokine release and stable baseline marker expression. After activation, signals were strong and reproducible.
