Overview

Description

The kit allows for the differentiation of human CD14+ monocytes into M2 macrophages, characterized by high expression of CD163 and CD206 and low expression of CD80. When activated with Lipopolysaccharide (LPS), M2 macrophages exhibit high IL-10 expression and low IL-12 expression.

Applications

The kit is used to analyze the differentiation of human monocytes into M2 macrophages ex vivo.

Background

Differentiation of monocytes into M1 and M2 macrophages can be achieved in vitro using GM-CSF or M-CSF, respectively. These distinct subtypes can be identified by their unique cell-surface protein expression and production of pro- or anti-inflammatory cytokines.
