FAQs Customer Reviews Related Products

What exactly will I receive, and how is the product prepared?

You will receive cryopreserved B129 mouse bone marrow monocytes delivered frozen at a defined quantity (1 × 10^7 cells). The cells are produced from pathogen-free laboratory mice and released after contamination screening. Vials ship on dry ice and should be transferred immediately to liquid nitrogen (-150°C to -190°C) upon arrival to preserve cell quality.

Can I thaw, aliquot, and refreeze the cells for later runs?

We strongly recommend avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles. The product guidance states repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended because it can reduce recovery and functional consistency. If you need multiple timepoints, plan multiple vials so each run starts from a freshly thawed vial.

Is this product permitted for in vivo dosing or veterinary use?

No. This product is for research use only and not suitable for human or animal use (including diagnostics or therapeutics). Handle with standard biosafety precautions.

  • We used the B129 bone marrow monocytes as a starting material for macrophage differentiation and downstream phenotyping
The shipment arrived on dry ice exactly as expected, and we moved the vial straight into liquid nitrogen storage per the handling notes. Recovery after thaw was consistent with what we typically see for cryopreserved primary immune cells, and-most importantly-there were no contamination surprises that could have derailed our culture timeline. The cells differentiated cleanly and gave reproducible readouts across replicate wells, which made it easier to compare two stimulation regimens in parallel.
  • We purchased these B129 monocytes to reduce variability introduced by in-house isolation
The product handling instructions are very explicit (dry ice to liquid nitrogen), and we followed them carefully-this likely contributed to stable performance. If you are building macrophage assays that need clean backgrounds and controlled inputs, these cells are a practical option.
  • This B129 monocyte vial worked well for our pilot study that compared differentiation conditions and early polarization cues
The cell quantity was sufficient for multiple endpoints (flow cytometry plus functional readouts), and the culture maintained expected morphology over the differentiation window. We also liked that the product page sets clear expectations about proper storage and what can compromise viability.
