Background
This antimicrobial gene is one of several Cys-Cys (CC) cytokine genes clustered on the q-arm of chromosome 17. Cytokines are a family of secreted proteins involved in immunoregulatory and inflammatory processes. The CC cytokines are proteins characterized by two adjacent cysteines. The cytokine encoded by this gene displays chemotactic activity for monocytes, lymphocytes, basophils and eosinophils, but not neutrophils. This chemokine plays a role in accumulation of leukocytes during inflammation. It may also be involved in the recruitment of monocytes into the arterial wall during artherosclerosis.
FAQs Customer Reviews Related Products

Is this competition ELISA kit suitable for detecting low-level CCL13 in inflammatory macrophage models?

This competition ELISA kit is particularly well-suited for detecting low-abundance CCL13 in macrophage-driven inflammatory models. The competitive format minimizes steric hindrance and improves detection reliability when antigen concentrations are limited. It supports serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants. We recommend performing preliminary dilution optimization to ensure sample readings fall within the linear range of the standard curve for accurate and reproducible quantification.

What advantages does the competitive format provide compared to sandwich ELISA?

The competitive format is advantageous for small chemokines like CCL13 where epitope accessibility may be limited. It reduces interference from sample matrix components and allows accurate quantification even in complex biological fluids. Although signal intensity is inversely proportional to antigen concentration, the kit includes detailed data analysis guidance to ensure reliable curve fitting and precise results.

How reliable is the reproducibility between assay runs?

This kit undergoes strict quality control validation. Intra-assay and inter-assay variability are maintained at low levels to ensure consistency. Each batch includes calibrated standards and validation documentation. When the protocol is followed carefully, users can expect stable standard curves and highly reproducible quantitative results across independent experiments.

  • High sensitivity and stable chemokine detection
We used this kit in an LPS-stimulated macrophage model and observed strong sensitivity even for samples with modest CCL13 secretion. The standard curve was smooth with excellent linearity. Replicate wells showed minimal variation, and background signal was low. The protocol was clearly written and easy to implement. The results were consistent enough for publication-level statistical analysis.
  • Reliable for low-expression samples
Our experimental system produced relatively low CCL13 levels, and this competitive assay performed better than sandwich formats we previously tested. The assay workflow was manageable and reproducible. Technical support provided helpful recommendations for dilution optimization. Overall, the kit delivered dependable results.
  • Consistent lot-to-lot performance
We purchased multiple lots for a long-term study and observed consistent curve slopes and absorbance values between batches. This reliability is important for longitudinal data comparison. The kit performed consistently throughout our mechanistic inflammation project.
