FAQs Customer Reviews Related Products

What is the specific application for the B129 mouse strain? Why would I choose this over C57BL/6?

The B129 (or 129) mouse strain is a common genetic background used for creating knockout (KO) models, as many embryonic stem (ES) cell lines are derived from it. You should choose these B129-derived macrophages if your in vivo study uses KO mice on a 129 background, as these cells are the genetically appropriate in vitro control.

What is the total cell count and expected viability?

This product contains a guaranteed 6 x 10^6 (6 million) viable cells per cryovial. We guarantee high viability upon thawing, provided our recommended thawing protocol and culture medium are used.

What is the recommended medium for culturing these BMDMs?

We provide a detailed protocol with your order. Generally, BMDMs thrive in DMEM or RPMI-1640 supplemented with 10% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) and M-CSF to maintain their viability and differentiation.

  • No contamination, high purity. Will buy again
We needed the 129 background for our in vivo comparison. They behaved as expected. Viability was about 85-90% post-thaw, which is good. Happy with the purchase.
  • The cells were highly viable and polarized to M1 just as well as B6 cells
Saved us the hassle of sacrificing our 129 mice just for BMDMs. This is much more convenient and cost-effective. Quality is top-notch.
  • The 6 million cell count is generous
Adhered well and were ready for stimulation after 24 hours. The protocol provided was clear and helpful. A reliable source.
