Description

This product is isolated from the lung of pathogen-free laboratory B129 mouse. 0.5 x 10^6 cells are delivered frozen. This product is negative in the tests of mycoplasma, bacteria, fungi and yeast. The expression of CD11b is positive by flow cytometry. It is guaranteed to further culture in the conditions provided by Creative Biolabs. Repeated freezing and thawing of cells is not recommended.

Are these alveolar macrophages or interstitial macrophages?

These cells are isolated from whole lung tissue, so the population represents total lung macrophages, which includes both alveolar macrophages (AMs) and interstitial macrophages (IMs). This makes them a comprehensive model for studying pulmonary immune responses.

What is the cell count per vial? 0.5 x 10^6 seems low.

This vial contains 0.5 x 10^6 (500,000) viable cells. While this is a lower cell count, it is ideal for smaller-scale assays like 24-well or 48-well plates, microscopy, or flow cytometry. Harvesting resident lung macrophages is technically challenging, and this product provides a convenient, ready-to-use source.

Are these cells from a naïve mouse?

Yes, these are resident lung macrophages isolated from a naïve, pathogen-free 129 mouse. They have not been "elicited" or activated with any external stimuli, making them representative of a steady-state (M0-like) pulmonary environment.

Perfect for our pulmonary fibrosis model
We absolutely needed a 129-background to match our knockout mice, and these were high viability and very active. Great for in vitro validation.
