Human PB Pan Monocytes (Age: 40), Negative selected, 5 x 10^7 cells (MTS-1022-JF82)

Overview

Description
Monocytes are immune cells that form an important bridge between the innate and adaptive immune response. These cells exist in various phenotypes based on cell surface marker expression and participate in the pathobiology of many systemic diseases. Monocytes provide an ideal model for the study of macrophage biology and mechanisms.
These pan monocytes are purified from peripheral blood by removing other cell types using immunomagnetic negative selection, with the highest viability and plating efficiency. Peripheral blood is collected from donors who have screend for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV-1, HIV-2, WNV, and CMV.
Isolated cells are characterized flow cytometry to ensure the enrichment of CD14+ cells.
5 x 10^7 cells per vial.
Cells are negative for bacteria, yeast, fungi, and mycoplasma.
Repeated freezing and thawing of cells is not recommended.

FAQs Customer Reviews Related Products

If my project includes older-age immune biology questions, how can an Age: 40 pan monocyte donor support the design?

Using an age-defined donor (Age: 40) strengthens cohort control and makes it easier to justify biological comparability-especially when you plan to test multiple stimuli, compounds, or timepoints and want to reduce background variability.

What are the most important "do's and don'ts" for preserving function after thaw?

The page explicitly cautions that repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Best practice is to keep vials continuously cryogenic until use, avoiding partial thaw/refreeze events that can impair recovery and functional responsiveness.

What exactly is included per vial, and what does it enable at the study level?

The vial contains 5×10^7 cells, enabling large-scale differentiation and multi-endpoint testing (e.g., polarization panels + repeated cytokine sampling + omics) while staying within a single vial's source for consistency.

  • This product supported a large macrophage differentiation run for downstream functional assays
The cells were easy to handle, recovered consistently, and maintained low background activity prior to stimulation. Differentiated macrophages displayed expected phenotypes and responded predictably to polarization cues. The high cell count simplified planning across multiple experimental arms and reduced the need for repeat orders.
  • This product helped us execute a complex experimental matrix efficiently, with fewer surprises and less time spent troubleshooting input variability
Our project required enough monocytes to run extensive replication and multiple time points, and this 5 × 10^7 format delivered. The cells showed stable post-thaw behavior, minimal aggregation, and predictable differentiation into macrophage-like cells.
  • It's a strong option
This large-format age-40 pan monocyte lot helped us maintain consistency across a multi-week macrophage program. The negative-selection prep provided a calm baseline state, which improved signal clarity in our early readouts. Differentiation was efficient and consistent across plates, and functional responses were robust when stimulated.
