FAQs Customer Reviews Related Products

Can these cells be polarized into M1 or M2 phenotypes?

Yes, as primary bone marrow-derived macrophages, these cells represent a naïve (M0) population that is fully capable of being polarized in vitro to M1 or M2 phenotypes using standard cytokine cocktails.

What applications are these hamster macrophages typically used for?

They are ideal for studies where a hamster model is required, such as research on COVID-19 (as hamsters are a susceptible model), leishmaniasis, or other metabolic and infectious diseases. They are suitable for phagocytosis, cytokine release, and gene expression assays.

What are the storage instructions upon arrival?

To ensure maximum viability, you must immediately transfer the frozen vial from the dry ice shipping container to a liquid nitrogen tank (-150°C to -190°C) for long-term storage. Do not store at -80°C.

  • Finally, a reliable source for hamster macrophages!
Good quality primary cells. We used them to test compound efficacy and got consistent results. Thawing protocol was easy to follow. A bit pricey, but worth it for the convenience and quality.
  • We've ordered this product three times now and the quality is always dependable
We successfully polarized them to both M1 and M2 phenotypes for our immunology study. The CD11b expression was bright and uniform. No contamination issues.
  • Good quality primary cells
The cell count was as advertised, and viability was good. They adhered well to our culture plates within 24 hours. A solid choice for anyone needing hamster primary macrophages.
