Overview

Description

This product is isolated from the bone marrow of pathogen-free laboratory FVBN mice after immortalization with a recombinant retrovirus, which contains the v-raf and myc oncogenes. This product is negative in the tests of mycoplasma, bacteria, fungi and yeast. The expression of CD11b is positive by flow cytometry. It is guaranteed to further culture in the conditions provided by Creative Biolabs. Repeated freezing and thawing of cells is not recommended.

Upon receiving, transfer this product directly from dry ice to liquid nitrogen(-150°C~-190°C) and store it in a liquid nitrogen tank.
We cannot guarantee the cell viability if the cells are not treated appropriately according to handling procedure.

Can I freeze and thaw this vial multiple times?

We strongly advise against repeated freeze-thaw cycles. These cells are shipped on dry ice and should be transferred directly to liquid nitrogen (-150°C to -190°C) for long-term storage upon receipt. To ensure the highest viability, thaw the cells quickly when needed and plate them according to the protocol. If you need to store cells for multiple experiments, we recommend aliquoting the cell suspension into multiple cryovials after the first expansion.

Will be ordering again
We were looking for a reliable FVB/N background macrophage line, and this product from Creative Biolabs is exactly that. The FVB/N macrophages arrived with high viability and were easy to culture following the datasheet.
They performed consistently with primary bone marrow-derived macrophages but are so much easier to work with since they're a cell line.
They respond well to LPS stimulation in our preliminary gene expression studies. The viability was over 90% upon thawing. My only suggestion would be to provide a larger vial size option.

As a postdoc setting up a new assay, having a dependable, immortalized cell line is crucial. These cells are growing well and look healthy. Technical support was also very helpful in answering my initial questions.
