Description

This product is isolated from the liver of pathogen-free laboratory C57BL/6 mouse. 1-10 x 10^6 cells are delivered frozen. This product is negative in the tests of mycoplasma, bacteria, fungi and yeast. The expression of CD11b is positive by flow cytometry. It is guaranteed to further culture in the conditions provided by Creative Biolabs. Repeated freezing and thawing of cells is not recommended.

Upon receiving, transfer this product directly from dry ice to liquid nitrogen(-150°C~-190°C) and store it in a liquid nitrogen tank.

Our isolation pipeline yields a high proportion of Kupffer cells through perfusion-based extraction, gradient purification, and cell-surface marker enrichment. Each batch undergoes phenotypic profiling to ensure consistent expression of Kupffer cell markers.

What age are the donor mice, and why is this relevant?

Donors are typically 8-12 weeks old, an age range ideal for consistent macrophage yields and mature Kupffer cell populations. Using donors in this range avoids developmental or aging-related variability.

What medium and additives do you recommend for culturing C57BL/6 liver macrophages?

We recommend culturing them in DMEM supplemented with 10% FBS, glutamine, and optional hepatocyte co-culture supplements if desired. Kupffer cells attach and spread quickly, and maintaining low-serum conditions can enhance sensitivity to inflammatory stimuli.
