FAQs Customer Reviews Related Products

Why would I choose BALB/c strain lung macrophages over C57BL/6?

The BALB/c mouse strain is well-known for its characteristic Th2-biased immune response. This makes these lung macrophages the ideal in vitro model for studying Th2-driven pulmonary diseases like asthma, allergic inflammation, and parasitic infections.

How do I best handle these cells after thawing?

We provide a detailed protocol with your order. In general, you should thaw the vial rapidly at 37°C, gently transfer the cells into pre-warmed recommended culture medium, and allow them to adhere and recover for several hours (or overnight) before starting your experiment.

What markers are used to identify these cells?

We confirm the identity of this population by demonstrating positive expression of CD11b by flow cytometry. They are also QC-tested to be free of microbial contaminants, including mycoplasma.

  • The BALB/c background is critical for our model
These cells responded beautifully to IL-4 and IL-13 stimulation. High viability and very clean.
  • Clean, viable, and strain-specific.
They performed as expected in our phagocytosis assay. I wish a larger cell count (like 1 or 2 million) was available, but the quality is undeniable.
