FAQs Customer Reviews Related Products

What is the difference between this product (JF21) and your other 129-strain product (JF19)?

This product (MTS-0922-JF21) consists of resident peritoneal macrophages from a naïve 129 mouse, and it contains 0.5 x 10^6 cells. Product MTS-0922-JF19 consists of thioglycollate-elicited (activated) macrophages and contains a much higher cell count (6 x 10^6). You should choose this product if you need a naïve, M0-like population.

What is the cell count?

This vial contains 0.5 x 10^6 (500,000) viable cells. This quantity is suitable for smaller-scale experiments, such as 24-well or 48-well plate assays, or for flow cytometry.

Can these cells be polarized to M1 or M2?

Yes. As naïve, resident (M0) macrophages, they are an excellent starting population for in vitro polarization experiments. They will respond readily to standard cytokine cocktails (e.g., LPS/IFN-γ for M1, IL-4/IL-13 for M2).

  • Good for pilot studies
Good quality, but be aware of the 500k cell count. It's not a lot of cells. We had to buy several vials for our experiment. The cells themselves were great, though.
  • Exactly as advertised
We successfully polarized them to M1 and M2. The protocol was helpful. Will likely buy the larger "thio" elicited vial next time if we need more cells, but these were great for establishing the model.
